Though idea of home schooling was
there since long, we left school last June. After school experiences with my
daughter we didn't want to repeat it with our son. During last summer
vacation (April-June) our daughter has joined gymnastics class and we found
answer to our only problem - regular contact with her age children, because
in neighbour we have no children. Her only attraction for school was her
friends and when at last she agreed for leaving school, we left it. Once
decided learnt lot and still learning more and more about homeschooling.
Learning together is fun and more attachment between all of us is main
benefit. |
Brief description of the degree
of activity for home-educators: Every homeschooling is unique in it's way,
so does ours. It's more like
unschooling, but as our children are small they need direction/instruction
sometimes. But most of the time we follow our activity by their questions.

The moment the importance of self
awareness and self knowledge was realized , education really started for us.
We realized that the education of our children is not separate from our own
education. We are exploring together and wish to support and get support
from all those who think similarly. The elder son is out of formal school
only for eight months and the younger one has only gone to a play school for
six months. |
Bharti is a whole timer and
Rakesh apart from having taken the responsibility of education is taking
care of earning livelihood. Rakesh is a public servant and gets postings in
towns of Himachal Pradesh only. The family moves with him on postings.
Presently Rakesh is posted to Kullu. We shall be happy to make arrangements
for group members visiting Himachal in general and Kullu and Manali in
particular.

When our 10yr old daughter,
Asawari started saying "this is the only right answer" or She used to refuse
to think beyond "text book" and "one right and wrong answer". We realize
that the things are not going correct. We decided to HOME SCHOOL her. We

We have been working with her
since past four months. And these four months have been great learning
experience and relationship building months. Our prime focus is learning
through EXPERIENCE. Experience the thinking skills, Experience the learning
and Experience your interest, goals. Do everything will full fun,
involvement, and emotions and we use Multiple Intelligence, Questioning -

We are an egroup of 15 families. 2 of
us are Radical Unschoolers, most are Homeschoolers, some eclectic etc. Nice
mixed bunch. We are fairly active and meet every month approx. Also due to
the online group... we get to discuss local resources, share info,
resources, set up get-togethers and exchange/barter ideas/stuff. The age of
the children ranges from about 2 yrs to 16-17. |
